What to do if you find a sick or injured swan

Please contact: Yorkshire Swan Rescue Hospital 01757 544554 (open hours: 9am to 7pm, seven days a week) or RSPCA Lincolnshire: 0300 1234 999 for advice.

Also, please report any injured swans to us, through our website (contact us page), Twitter @LincolnSwans or email swanrings@lincoln.ac.uk. If the bird has a yellow ring or any other ring, please let us know any ring number.

What to do if you find a dead swan

Where possible, avoid directly touching any dead swans. **There is currently an outbreak of avian influenza in the UK, so it is not recommended to touch any dead or sick birds. **

Please call the Defra helpline on 03459 33 55 77 (Mon-Fri 8am to 6pm) and select option 7. This is really important so the presence of avian influenza in the swan population can be monitored.

Please report to us and bird found, injured or dead via our website, Twitter @LincolnSwans or email swanrings@lincoln.ac.uk. If the bird has a yellow ring or any other ring, please let us know any ring number.
